About the Author: Kelly Gillease
Hi. First off, thanks for reading inhousesem! I am lucky enough to get to spend some of the company’s time blogging about in-house search engine marketing, the rest of the time I act as Marketing Director at Viator.com, the largest provider of sightseeing tours and activities on the web. Before that I spent a year working at Yahoo! in the Media Group heading up search engine marketing efforts for Games, Fantasy Sports and Finance and contributing to other marketing projects. Before that I managed search engine marketing at Hotwire, and post acquisition by IAC -InterActive Corp, I worked on marketing projects with Hotels.com, Expedia and other IAC companies. And before that? I worked at Ask Jeeves as an editor, and then in engineering, as a, ahem, “knowledge engineer”. Seriously I did not pick that title. I’ve also been a speaker at SMX West and SMX London conferences.
Often I get asked why I’ve never worked at Google, and the answer is because my husband works there, and I like that we can mostly avoid talking about work. Also I got tired of the commute to the South Bay during my time at Yahoo! and I don’t miss it one bit (current commute: 2 miles). The second thing I get asked a lot is if I know anyone or if I myself am interested in any search engine marketing consulting work. The answer to that is less straightforward; it depends. Get in touch and I’ll see what I can do.
If you wonder why I started blogging, read why I blog.
Thanks again for reading, and please share the blog with your colleagues if you think they’d be interested.
